Introduction
Dorothy McMahon, is One half of The Wedding Marketers in Galway. I was lucky to meet Dorothy through my Friend Sinéad Nic Gabhann who is the other half of this very talented duo. Sinéad is a beautiful award winning wedding singer and herself and Dorothy were school pals. I assisted the girls with one of their clients The Ardilaun Hotel In Galway on Wedding tips for their couples and prop ideas for this infamous Galway Landmark. This is how i first met Dorothy.
And the wedding plans begin!
Dorothy was also preparing for own wedding to her sweetheart Padraig who owns and runs another famous Galway landmark, McDonagh’s Fish & Chips! In my Galway College days this was a haunt of ours . The Fish & chips with a side of Mushy peas from McDonaghs ! Pure food Love! http://www.mcdonaghs.net/
So i was thrilled to be asked to prepare their wedding flowers . And defying superstition this beautiful couple were married on Friday 13th september 2019.
The flowers
Dorothy was a joy to deal with as She said she would love bird cages and really bright flowers – So Balla Florists were allowed what we do best . We could be creative! be flamboyant! be colourful! and use all our favourite flowers! Dahlias, ranunculas, stock, lisianthus, peonies and delphiniums! A dream come through -.
The Venue
Our back drop to the Aran Islands ( Oileáin Árann) , the Atlantic Ocean really cultivated our wedding theme – Lots of natural flowers with copper and earthy utensils. https://www.aranislandshotel.com/weddings/
Transport via Water
We sent everything over via ferry with the year-round ferry passenger service Aran Island Ferries from Galway Harbour. https://www.aranislandferries.com/
Their wedding came together so well – beautiful wedding bouquets, Florals hoops for flowergirls and stunning buttonholes.
Centrepieces
Dorothy’s centrepieces were divine. We provided our Tall gold stands. They are amazing for adding height and a WOW factor to a room. Here a lush arrangement with bright florals and a mix of beautifully scented roses, ranunculus, Peony roses and lisianthus . We also used alternating lower centrepieces filling our gold birdcages with beautiful florals . They filled the room with scent and romance. The stands can be set out along tables or to form a top table arrangement. Smaller vases and candlesticks along the table finish the look.
